The P-51D was the most numerous in the
P-51 series, with nearly 8,000 manufactured. With a 1,590hp Packard/Merlin 12-cylinder
engine, it could reach a top speed of 448 mph. This plastic kit features the 78th Fighter
Group's most colorful P-51D, the Big Beautiful Doll, assigned to Lt. Col. John D. Landers.
Kit includes lift-off engine panel and wing machine gun access panel. 7" long with a

The P-51 was designed as the NA-73 as
a follow-up to the Curtiss P-40, and was later called "Mustang" by the British.
Although not powered for high altitude success, the early P-51 excelled at low altitude
and these first Mustangs were used in the ground attack and close air support roles.
Plastic kit features recessed panel lines, realistic cockpit, and assorted weapons
including bombs, wing guns and drop tanks. 56 pieces, 6¼" wingspan when complete.
